6 months old!

I'm kind of in shock that my baby is 6 months old. It seems like his birth was so long ago, and that he's still so little all at the same time. He is such a sweet little guy, always smiling and moving.
He and I took at trip to California at the beginning of Christmas break to see my brother graduate(!). He was the best travel partner I could've asked for. Even after our terribly delayed flights and running through airports he was happy and smiling.

At 6 months he:
Has eaten in some very interesting places.
Is now eating a variety of foods: apples, squash, rice & oatmeal cereals, peas (that was a funny face!), sweet potatoes
Is very close to having teeth. I'm going to miss his big gummy grin.
Loves to bounce & is always in motion- if he is awake, he is moving.
Wears 6-12 or 9 month clothes & size 3 diapers. I can't wait to see how big he is on Monday at his check-up.
Is sitting on his own, though he still flops over or folds forward when he gets tired.
Loves to laugh at his big brother.

Our Wonderful Week

So...Our week in review:
This weekend the boys and I went to a Christmas Storybook land with my good friend & her family. D had SO much fun (once he got over being scared of Santa). He and the other D loved looking at all of the depictions of stories decorated for Christmas. Talking to Santa was still a bit much for him, so we skipped that, but I did have to find a "candy-candy" (which is a candy cane, if you were wondering) for him, because otherwise he was NOT leaving! B slept most of the time, and was pushed by my friend's mom. When he woke up & realized it wasn't me pushing him he was NOT pleased! He spent the rest of the time giving her the stink-eye.

We also went to go cut down our Christmas tree! It was so fun to have our whole family together & the Christmas tree farm we go to is super cute! They have goats! Once Josh finished his tree-putting-up job, D and I had a great time decorating the tree and drinking hot chocolate and eating cookies. He, D, is SO proud of having helped decorate the tree, and it is SO fun to share ornaments from when I was a baby with him.

This week I also tried my hand at a couple of pinterest ideas. I had made this delicious squash for Thanksgiving, even my FIL, known squash hater, loved it. I thought it might be good mixed into a risotto, and it was Delish! Great with pork chops and buerre blanc!

I also found this recipe for funfetti fudge, and HAD to try it--LOVE Funfetti! I made it last night, using green, red, and white sprinkles. It is yummy, and SO easy to make! I can't wait to try the peppermint variation

I also had a rare technical success- I finally fixed our router, so we can watch Netflix on our wii! I would say it was the best idea ever, but now D only ever wants to watch Spiderman, so it may have backfired!

More Turkeys

Last night I finally "stuck" the turkeys onto the placemats.

Thank Goodness for stich-witchery! Now I just have to embroider them before Thanksgiving! Is it weird that I'm excited to have Thanksgiving at our house just so we can use the placemats? And that I'm freaking out that they might get all messy!?!

Obsessed

Ok, I admit it. I'm obsessed with Pinterest.com
I have always wanted to be someone crafty, but until recently my only "domestic" skill has been cooking (save the sewing lessons I had in 5th grade). So I'm trying something new-thanks to pinterest-craftiness!
My first project is turkey place mats for Thanksgiving. Here is the inspiration picture:

And here is my progress so far:

I'm making 4 placemats, with 2 turkeys each (one from each boy), so I'm 3/8ths of the way there :) Progress!

Pancakes

Usually (meaning, I did it last year) we make pancakes for Halloween, as I have sweet pancake molds that make a haunted house, a pumpkin and a bat. This year, since Halloween was Monday & D is big enough to have wanted to go trick-or-treat and get "trick-or-treats", I missed it. So yesterday we finally made pancakes.
Part of the reason for the pancake making was that Dean got a giraffe whisk the last time we were at Target (I'm a little whisk-obsessed, I probably would've gotten it for my self). He really wanted to "whisk" something, so pancakes it was!
Having a 3 year old help you stir can be fun, but he got a little over-zealous -- The blueberries ended up turning the batter a little bit grey :)
I'm so excited to have a little sous-chef in the kitchen! Friday we are going to attempt gnocchi!

At 4 months...

At 4 months B:
*Can roll over from his back to tummy. He then gets really mad, screams until you turn him over, then immediately flips back onto his tummy.
*Is a very smiley boy...unless it is time to eat.
*Likes his binky on occasion.
*Loves to watch whatever big brother is doing.
*Has been laughing for dada for a while, but just started laughing for mama.
*Likes when mama makes funny faces at him & tries to copy.
*Likes to grab at things, like mama's hair.
*Gets mad when made to sit when he'd rather stand & practice jumping.
*Likes to sit up, none of that baby laying back business.
*Is unbelievably drooly-seriously, so much drool-teeth soon?
*Wears size 6 month clothes, size 2 diapers, size 6 month shoes (I only know because I wanted him to have shoes in our family pics, as they were outside)
*Weighs 14 pounds 15.5 ounces, and is 26.5 inches tall. That puts him in the 34th percentile for weight & 94th for height.
*Is in the 74th percentile for head circumference.
